Our History...
The Knapp Automotive Group had its beginnings back in 1944
when Earl Knapp opened an independent service garage known as
Blissfield Auto Electric. In 1947, Earl Knapp expanded the business
to include automotive sales with the acquisition of the local Oldsmobile
franchise. People came from all over to Blissfield to buy Oldsmobiles from
Earl Knapp because of his reputation for honest deals and good service.
The business continued to grow and prosper and in 1971, Earl's son David joined the family business.
Also that year, the Knapps added Pontiac and Buick to the Oldsmobile line which necessitated a move to
a larger facility in Blissfield.
In 1981 Knapp Motors moved to its present location in Blissfield and in 1982 Chevrolet was added to the line-up, making Knapp Motors one of the few General Motors dealerships in the country to sell and service four lines of GM vehicles at one location.
The Knapp family business would continue to expand with the addition in November 1991 of Dave Knapp Ford Lincoln-Mercury in Adrian. This put the Knapp family in the unique position of being able to sell their customers America's favorite cars and trucks from both General Motors and Ford Motor Company.
The Knapp Automotive Group will continue to prosper in the new millennium. Why? Because our team of dedicated employees are committed to providing the best in customer sales and service available anywhere. And we're always striving to get better at what we do. This was true 60 years ago. And its true today. The Knapp Automotive Group ... a great place to do business.
